"CHON: A Nearly Fatal Illusion"
Biosphere 2 artist-in-residence Deborah Ford's
new
photographic works.
**
"A Nearly Fatal Illusion" is a direct reference to
Barry
Commoner's statement regarding ideas
surrounding
contemporary society's alleged independece
from
nature. Ford visually explores the interaction of
nature
and science, chaos and climate, while trying to
understand the tenuous balance that the
elements
play within ecology and reclamation. This
selection of
work focuses on the significance of water
within 'life's
soup' and the arid landscapes of the American
West.
