A happy ending, I think & hope, to the entangled Pied-billed Grebe situation at Reid Park. I posted a photo of her entanglement, contacted Tucson Wildlife Center, who was fantastic--they came to the park, worked with Park personnel to get a boat, but on that day, the grebe eluded capture. After about another week, it looked like the netting was working its way off, and ultimately, I couldn't find the entangled one anymore--though three grebes remained on the pond--the original number. Through other observers, I heard that it really did free itself finally. Isn't that great!! Thanks to Tucson Wildlife Center, staff from Reid Park, Reid Park zoo and the Parks Dept for responding, and to all others who cared about the plight of this lovely creature. And wouldn't it be wonderful to eliminate litter of plastic lines & nets & packaging which can be lethal to wildlife.
