JOE PATRONITE / ARIZONA DAILY STAR 1979
It was a hot afternoon on Sept. 23, 1979 - nearly 100 degrees - and the members of the Tucson Street Rod Association were meeting at Jacobs Park. Apparently it seemed like a good idea to see how many people could be crammed into a 1951 Nash. The goal was 50, but only 33 made it. It was hoped the feat would get the club into the Guinness Book of Records, even though car stuffing was not a listed category. Said club member Ron Truex, "It was something to do."
