It had been great fun, but after a seven-month stint at Tokyo Disneyland, the award-winning bluegrass band Blitz Creek was glad to be back in Tucson. On Oct. 3, 1989, fiddler Gail Gowing, left, banjo player Ross Nickerson, guitarist John Mattingley and bassist Mark Rizzardi arrived home. During their Japanese stay, Blitz Creek played seven sets a day at Disneyland, five days a week. The group had won a 1985 Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition.
