What's going up? School and mining truck wash among new construction

Construction has begun on Pima County’s newest elementary school. A $17 million building permit was issued for the yet-to-be-named school at 11745 W. Gladden Farms Drive, commercial permit records show. Marana Unified School District has contracted with Chasse Building Team to build the school, which is set to open next summer.

The Northgate Plaza shopping center, anchored by Walmart, at the corner of Grant Road and Alvernon Way, has been sold to investors for $12.8 million. The plaza, with more than 100,000 square feet of retail space, is 88 percent occupied.

Homes along Grant Road in central Tucson are disappearing as one of Tucson’s major east-west thoroughfares is widened to six lanes with bike lanes and pedestrian improvements. More than a dozen permits have been issued for demolition of homes on the south side of Grant Road between Euclid and Mountain avenues, data from commercial permits show.

Not only do you need just a 3.5 percent down payment, but the FHA is also far more flexible on credit compared with other financing sources.
